"Hey!! I’ve been facing a sort of dilemma recently and I’d love for some help. Basically, there’s this course I take that involves something I’m extremely passionate about. It’s something I’m thinking about possibly turning into a career when I’m older type of thing. I really like the class, but there’s only one problem. I can’t stand the teacher teaching it. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with them as a person; it’s just that their teaching style infuriates me. Half of the time when I’m in their class, I feel like I’m going to lose it. I won’t get into too much detail for privacy sake, but to sum it up, their teaching style is slow and painful. I’m about 85% sure that they also teach related courses for older grades. What do I do? Should I suck it up and take the courses with that teacher anyway or stop taking those courses for my own sanity. I’ve asked other people about this and they’ve had mixed opinions, so I’m not entirely sure what to do. I’d love another point of view! Thanks!!"
Hello!
I understand you want advice on what to do about your class and annoying teacher. Trust me, I get it. Even if you love a subject, it all depends on the teacher. Every teacher has a different teaching style and not all of them will work for you.
In my opinion, I think you should just stick it out with the teacher if you want to pursue a career connected to the course. Having bad teachers is, sadly, a common occurrence and learning how to manage is a good life skill. You could take notes in class, look at the Google Classroom for materials you can study on your own time, and maybe ask the teacher for extra help or you can get more material so you can practice.
Thanks for writing to me, Ambitious Student. I hope this helps with your situation.
