By now I think everyone has heard of Taylor Swift’s new album “Midnights” which debuted October 21st. Well, for those who have been streaming Taylor’s songs on a loop, this album has officially broken multiple records within the music industry. Spotify’s Global Charts has Taylor Swift’s new album taking up the entire top 13 spots, making Swift the first artist in history to have one of their songs in each spot of the top 10. “Midnights” debuted with over 180 million streams. This is higher than any other album and also more than doubles her highest album, which was “Red (Taylor’s Version)” debuting with almost 91 million streams.
Another record broken with this album is “Biggest Song” with Taylor’s song, “Anti-Hero” debuting with over 17 million streams. The previous record holder was a Drake song with 12 million streams. Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” beat this song by 5 million streams. Swift also has the top 5 biggest song debuts in history with “Anti-Hero” at 17.39M, “Lavender Haze” at 16.42M, “Snow On The Beach” at 15M, “Maroon” at 14.4M, and “You’re On Your Own, Kid” with 12.8 MILLION STREAMS. These were the most streamed songs on Spotify in a day, breaking yet another record for her. A fourth record broken for not only Swift but for Lana Del Ray as well as “Biggest Collab Debut” which puts “Snow On The Beach” on top surpassing Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s collaboration of “Rain on Me”.
Taylor Swift’s older songs such as “Blank Space”, “August”, “Cardigan”, “Lover”, and “Style” are also charting with over 1 million streams in a day. Swift also broke records by being the first artist in history to have over 200 MILLION streams in a single day on Spotify.
With all these records breaking, it feels as though Taylor Swift is taking over and has effectively broken the industry of music with her latest album. I’d say she deserves it but what about the rest of you, Tigers? What do you think about all these records for Taylor?
