How would you feel waking up earlier than you usually do? The thought of it may be dreadful. But, what about waking up early for something you enjoy doing? About 14 girls decided to join the Varsity Girls’ Ultimate Frisbee Team/Club! They were committed to waking up early on Tuesdays and Thursdays and making it to Harbord at 7:30 in the morning to play ultimate frisbee in Bickford Park or the backfield at Harbord.
“It was scary having to leave while it was still very dark, and it was stressful having to prepare everything, like homework the night before and still get enough sleep. My overall experience was that I enjoyed frisbee. It was extremely fun because I met new people, played a sport I haven’t played, and it was something we [the teammates] could talk about and bond over when we saw each other in the halls or something,” Halliday MacLeod, from the Girls’ Ultimate Frisbee team, stated.
Mr. Leblanc, the coach, and Anthony Quach, the assistant coach, used drills to improve our skills in preparation for a game. Although the girls’ ultimate team did not get to play against other schools this season, they would scrimmage against each other for fun.
Keep an eye out for the Co-Ed Ultimate Frisbee Team in the spring!
