The Global Climate Strike on September 27, 2019 did get a lot of attention.
It attracted lots of participants, from all walks of life, albeit the majority of them were young people.

Media coverage was great and with front person Greta Thunberg it had world wide attention, especially when she spoke in Denver and said ‘’The older generations are failing and the political leaders are failing us, but we will be watching, and holding them accountable’’

This couldn't have been worded better, on behalf of a child speaking for children all around the world.

Question is: will it stick?

In my opinion it created more awareness with people that already cared for the climate and young people that are idealistic about the future of the planet. Did it do the same for the people that currently have the biggest impact on the environment and the ability to make legislative change? I’m not too sure. For the most part they were not the people that participated in the climate strike and they are also not the people that will make many changes in their lives.

Hopefully the young people keep that flame in their hearts to fight for our earth and make some actual change, time will tell.
